A journey from snow to mountain bike trails sees Max Carling-Currin taking on a new challenge, extending his shuttle business to include mountain bike hire. Kune Shuttles & Bike Hire is in the same building as the Climbing Gym, next to the Pharmacy in Ohakune. He has been running Kune Shuttles for the past year and took over the bike hire from his old boss at SLR on November 1st.

As well as packages with bike hire, shuttles and jet-boat transfers with Whanganui River Adventures, the shop does half and full day bike hires. They have around 120 bikes, from kid-sized and up to 27.5 and 29 inches adult, hardtail and full suspension. They have 25 e-bikes including fat-tyre bikes, which Max says handle rough terrain, gravel and mud well.

Max is supported by Mac Madsen who has his own bike repair business based in Waiouru.
